He became involved in his profession after serving over twenty years in law enforcement and then appearing on national television on Leeza Gibbons' show. He saw the need for better understanding and communication skills towards the battered and abused people in the community.

Mr. Reed Jr. believes that a person should live in the moment, not for the moment. His eight-year-old daughter (Princess) has been diagnosed with juvenile diabetes and he has begun work with Mary Tyler Moore's Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
